A tall conical mountain located in central Srilanka known as Sri Pada is also popularly called Adams peak. Providing a magnificent view from a distance Adams Peak the peak at its summit point is believed to have a sacred footprint that is believed to be the foot print of Lord Buddha by Buddhists, Lord Shiva by Hindus and Adams or St. Thomas by Islamists and Christians. Situated in the north east city of Ratnapura, the area around the mountain is a thickly populated forest and is home to a wildlife reserve preserving several endemic species. Adams Peak has no other mountain of its size or even close to its height in the vicinity. The summit is reachable from base through cemented steps that’s well lit with electric lights. Hence Adams peak can be safely reached during nights with children accompanying adults.
