Situated at a major junction, Dambulla is where the prime vegetable distribution to whole of Srilanka takes place. Situated in the Matale district, North east of Colombo and North of Kandy Dambulla is a big town and has several tourist attractions making it an interesting space to visit in Srilanka.

A well preserved cave temple is the largest and prime attraction of Dambulla that brings several visitors who find themselves astonished to watch this cave temple complex. Dambulla makes for several historic findings for archaeologists and the latest in their findings Ibbankatuwa prehistoric burial site located 3km away from the temple complex. These findings make many visitors go back in time and get their brain to think about the existence of a civilization that could have existed prior to the Indians arrival in Srilanka.

There are approximately 80ncaves around the temple complex. However there are five caves that serve as prime tourist attractions. They are home to paintings and statue of Lord Buddha, Srilankan Kings, several Gods and Goddesses. The murals of lord Vishnu and Ganesh cover a significant amount of area. The paintings depict the temptation of demon Mara to Lord Buddha and His first Sermon. The rock towers, caves, paintings describing stories and the stupas all make for an interesting historical sighting.

However Dambulla is not known for the temple complex alone. The Rangiri Dambulla International stadium built in 167 days following all safety procedures also attracts several tourists. Though it looks like any international stadium the fact that it was built in 167 days is what makes it an attraction of Srilanka tour.

Dambulla also houses natural spread of Rose Quartz mountain range in entire South Asia.
